www.arborage.com ARBOR AGE n SPRING 2015 7 INDUSTRY NEWS Bayer CropScience closes acquisition of DuPont Crop Protection Land Management assets Bayer CropScience completed the acquisition of certain DuPont Crop Protection Land Management assets in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. The acquisition signifi cantly boosts Bayer CropScience's non- agricultural pest and weed control business. "We are striving to fur- ther expand the leadership position of Environmental Science, and this acquisition is a milestone which underlines our growth ambi- tions," said Bayer CropScience CEO Liam Condon. "Through this acquisition we become a leader in Industrial Vegetation Manage- ment in North America and globally, and will continue to build a best-in-class, innovative platform for future product launches and risk management solutions." Pro-forma sales of the combined businesses in 2013 amounted to approximately EUR 80 million, with DuPont's Land Manage- ment business in North America, Mexico, Australia and New Zea- land contributing approximately EUR 50 million. Additionally, 16 employees from DuPont will join the Bayer Industrial Vegetation Management team in the United States. The acquisition strategically complements Bayer CropScience's current product portfolio and allows the company to gain access to the growing Forestry and Range & Pasture business segments in North America. Land managers and utility foresters will now profi t from a comprehensive weed control portfolio, comprising estab- lished and innovative herbicides marketed under brand names such as Esplanade, Perspective, Streamline, Escort and Cimarron. "Our goal is to combine our expertise and passion for Industrial Vegetation Management and Forestry with the best people and ca- pabilities of both organizations," said Liam. "More than ever, we are committed to deliver fi rst-choice solutions to our customers that keep our railways, roadsides and forests clean and safe." Bayer also announced new and expanded roles for its IVM leadership team: ■ Matt Nespeca – IVM Head of Commercial Operations ■ Norman Barclift – IVM Head of Marketing ■ David Spak – Stewardship and Development Manager ■ Mike Biscieglia – Western Sales Manager
