Several of the IDA members have already registered on the IDA website for conven- tion. IDA has already sold more booths by June 1 than the total booths of the 2012 Miami Show. e membership offi ce has even received two new ads for the convention book. What is it about Miami? During the history of the Independent Distributors Association, Miami is always a big attraction for companies in the heavy equipment/parts industry. We will be sending the convention brochure out in a few weeks. ere are a few items to let you know that will be diff erent about this meeting. First, the Miami compa- nies are again making plans to welcome everyone back to their city. Although the details have not been shared as of yet. Second, Please plan to come early. Terry McKay has arranged the Golfi ng Tournament for Wednesday morning. For those of you that are not golfi ng that day, a relaxing day to enjoy some of the beauty of Florida by boat tour followed by a unique luncheon celebrating the local art. See more in the pages to follow. ird, ere will be several gatherings indicated outside the convention schedule. So this year the Opening Reception will begin early. (5 pm to 7 pm). is will leave open the evening for private Planning Ahead ! dinners and receptions. However the cash bar on the terrace will remain open for a while for those that just want to lounge and visit around the pool. Fourth, Costex has again promised to arrange the deep sea fi shing tournaments. is was very popular last time. Again Saturday morning a er the IDA convention closes. Lastly, It cannot be impressed enough, that it is necessary to make your hotel reservations now. ere are several events going on in Miami in October. It is always diffi cult to guarantee the number of rooms that IDA members will reserve. IDA is careful not to over reserve the rooms, as we will have to pay the hotel for rooms not used. Please help IDA and yourself by making reservations you believe you will need NOW. You can cancel a week before conven- tion or make changes at any time without monetary penal- ties. Just go to: www.idaparts.org and click on the hotel link in the CONVENTION section. As with every year, the Directors and Staff of IDA want so much for everyone to have a wonderful time and a lucrative time at our convention and trade show.
