FROM THE PRESIDENT Nearly 16 years ago, we helped establish the innovative partnership that became the Florida High Tech Corridor Council to bolster and grow job opportunities in our region. This challenging economy reminds us that our goal is more important than ever. Through the power of partnerships—most noticeably with hundreds of businesses through our Matching Grants Research Program—we enhance the industries that provide high-value jobs. These alliances benefit our graduates and create opportunities for tens of thousands of Floridians who seek prosperity for themselves and their families. UCF is proud to help drive the economic growth of Central Florida and to advance the Sunshine State's role as a high tech center. We seek to spur more gains through our partners in higher education. Together, we hasten the development and commercialization of research in clean technology in such areas as solar power, building science, energy efficiency, hydrogen fuel cells and ethanol production. Such efforts exemplify why the Florida High Tech Corridor Council matters so much now and for the future. As partners, we will continue to grow a stronger economy for our region and state.
