Drivers who serve as training engi- neers for the Green Bay, Wis.-based company are paid for every mile a student drives during their time together, plus an extra $60 to $70 every day that they train. Also, for every student driver that stays with Schneider and performs well, the company awards the training engi- neer with safety and retention bonuses. FACILITIES Richmond, Va.-based ESTES EXPRESS LINES opened new terminals in Kent, Wash., and Atlanta to accommodate increased demand for its less- than-truckload services in those regions. The Kent facility features 65 doors and provides Estes with five terminals in Washington. The Atlanta terminal in the city's Southwest region features 61 doors and is the company's seventh Georgia facility. ACHIEVEMENTS Darrell Thompson, an Indianapolis-based driver sales representative for CON-WAY FREIGHT, became the eighth driver in the company's 33-year history to surpass 3 million consecutive accident-free miles. Thompson joined the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based company in 1985 and has been a professional truck driver for more than 31 years. He also has been recognized for professionalism by the Indiana Motor Truck Association, which designated him a Master Truck Driver. Selected drivers are honored with their full-size images on the Wilmington, Ohio-based company's trailers.
