Fleet News 56 | Overdrive | February 2016 Fleetmaster boosts pay for regional drivers FLEETMASTER EXPRESS announced a pay increase for its regional drivers of more than 14 percent. The Roanoke, Va.-based company says it also recently enhanced its detention pay, holiday pay and 401(k) program, and also offers an incentive bonus plan, vacation pay and bonuses for driver referrals and U.S. Department of Transportation inspections. Drivers can expect no-touch and no hazmat freight, weekly settlements and quality home time. Fleetmaster also offers local and dedicated hauling opportunities. By Dean SmallwooD EQUIPMENT SUPER SERVICE rolled out a new lease-purchase program that provides owner-operators the ability to acquire their own truck with no money down and no credit check. Contractors for the regional and dedicated truckload car- rier can choose from a variety of tractors, including Peterbilt, Volvo, International and Freightliner, and they also can select their own compensation plans, providing them with added control over their busi- ness. Super Service says it offers all owner-operators a 100 per- cent fuel surcharge, no forced dispatch, onsite Qualcomm installation, a stable freight base across 20-25 states and no additional charges for base plates or permits. The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based company also offers new lease-purchase contractors a transition bonus of up to $5,000. BUSINESS TRANSPORT AMERICA, an Eagan, Minn.-based truckload carrier and TransForce subsid- iary, acquired a majority stake in Chicago-based Optimal Freight, a privately held nonas- set-based truckload freight bro- kerage company that provides services throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
