22 | Overdrive | March 2016 LOGBOOK In the event of an IRS audit, mixing your personal and business fi nances could cost you thousands of dollars, so it's best to create a bank account that will be used only to manage the revenue and expenses of your trucking business. Also, it will be impossible for you and your accountant to analyze your business accurately if your personal and business fi nances are mingled. The Partners in Business program is produced by Overdrive and the consultants at ATBS, the nation's largest owner-operator business services fi rm. It is sponsored by Ryder, Goodyear Smart Fleet and Truckstop.com. The next free seminars will be Aug. 26-27 at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas. The program manual is available at eTruckerStore.com. For more information, visit OverdriveOnline.com/PIB. PARTNERS IN BUSINESS TIP: KEEP SEPARATE BANK ACCOUNT Walmart driver pleads not guilty The truck driver accused of crashing into a limo van carrying comedian Tracy Morgan, injuring him and two other passengers and killing another, pleaded not guilty to charges related to the accident. Kevin Roper, who was driving a Walmart truck when the crash occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike in June 2014, entered his pleas during a hearing last month. The resident of Jonesboro, Ga., is charged with aggra- vated manslaughter, vehicular homicide and aggravated assault. The crash killed comedian James McNair, while Morgan suff ered brain trauma, broken ribs and a broken leg. Roper's attorney, Da- vid Glassman, has claimed Walmart's settlement of Mor- gan's lawsuit against the retailer generated publicity that harms Roper's chance for a fair trial. Glassman also is seeking to have the charges against his client thrown out. That motion is likely to be heard in April. – Overdrive Staff
