March 2016 | Overdrive | 69 Fleet News C.R. England revamps training, adjusts pay C.R. ENGLAND announced a 12.3 percent pay increase for drivers in its Phase 2 training program. Drivers upgrading out of C.R. England's Phase 1 training will transition into its new Phase 2 program, which replaces its discontinued Career Advancement Teaming program. The Salt Lake City-based refriger- ated hauler said its Phase 2 program places an empha- sis on career growth. C.R. England also announced it is more than dou- bling detention pay for national and regional drivers. By Dean SmallwooD FACILITIES WERNER ENTERPRISES proposed plans for a new training and maintenance center in Palmer, Pa. The 67,000-square-foot Lehigh Valley facility would replace and triple the size of the company's 4-acre Upper Macungie terminal while expanding employment from 40 to about 70. The new facility would provide truck mainte- nance, driver training, showers, a barber shop, a workout center and lounges. RECOGNITION XPO LOGISTICS recognized driver Bobby Chilcoat for sur- passing three million safe miles – one of only four drivers in the Greenwich, Conn.-based com- pany's truckload operations to achieve the feat. Chilcoat, of Moore, Okla., began as a company driver in 1991 with what is now XPO Logistics' truckload business. Last year, he took first place in the sleeper berth class of the Missouri State Truck Driving Championships, earning a spot in the national finals. DAYTON FREIGHT LINES won the 2014 Ohio Trucking Association's President's Trophy in the Large Division (10-20 million miles) category.
