Ad- vanced engineering and manufacturing processes were key in the design of a niche series of 48-foot-by- 102-inch Black Gold Drop- deck trailers, encompassing a 10-foot top deck, V-type crossmembers and a 5-foot rear pullout extension. The 90,000-pound GVWR-rated trailer was developed to haul either a load of boats lying fl at or a stacked load standing at an angle on custom racks that fi t a specialized stake pocket design. Doonan's design incorporates a custom V confi guration at the rear of the top deck and in the V's center section to allow room for the boat's hull to seat lower to meet legal height requirements. Other features include an Apitong wood fl oor at the rear and along the sides of the center V design to al- low for other freight types, specially designed stake pockets, dual rubrails and a Tiremaax Pro Air Infl ation System. – Todd Dills Doonan Specialized Trailers, Doonan.com Doonan floats new boat trailer series The 48-foot-by- 102-inch Black Gold Dropdeck trailers encompass a 10-foot top deck, V-type crossmembers and a 5-foot rear pullout extension. Dunbar, Pa.-based JLE Industries was founded in 2010 to take advantage of the then-growing energy exploration ongoing in the Marcellus Shale region. After starting with a few trucks, it now owns 100 and employs 120 people. Following the fast growth, the company now serves both the oil and gas and construction industries. It recently standardized its truck equipment, settling on the Kenworth T880 with Paccar's MX-13 engine. JLE's T880s include numer- ous confi gurations, including daycabs. The Kenworth- loyal company also runs a W900 and a 2015-intro- duced Icon 900 model. "Downtime is not acceptable," said Jason Adamsky, chief executive offi cer. "Ultimately, the reason we went with the Kenworth T880 is reli- ability. The T880 is more practical and functional for what we're doing with the sloped hood and set-back steer axles." Adamsky cited numer- ous features providing great functionality for JLE drivers, such as "the power mirrors, especially in the dump trucks. When drivers are trying to pull out on some of these narrow roads at an awkward angle, they can touch the power mirror button and get a much bet- ter view of what's going on around them." JLE has been taking about 10 new trucks a month from an order of 70. Adamsky said that as the company grows, it'll expand further across the country, specifi - cally toward energy, oil and gas, as well as infrastructure work such as highways, roads and bridges. – Todd Dills Kenworth Truck Co., Kenworth.com JLE expanding in construction, oil and gas JLE Industries' Kenworth T880s include numerous configurations from tri-axle and six-axle dumps to tractors with 52-inch sleepers and a couple of daycabs. The trailer was developed to haul either a load of boats lying flat or a stacked load standing at an angle on custom racks. New options for Kenworth voca- tional models were announced late last year, including a fixed-grille option (pictured) for those running the W900S with the Paccar PX-9 engine in a set-forward front-axle configuration. The option allows end users or body builders to use the truck's front without impacting the ability to open the hood, useful for crane operators or fleets run- ning vacuum trucks.
