5 HISTORY Tickets and info at M EDOR A .COM Harold Schafer Heritage Center Harold Schafer was largely responsible for the reviving of Medora. He was fascinated by Medora and its history and purchased the Rough Riders Hotel and Ferris Store in 1962. That was just the beginning of his efforts. Discover the legacy of Harold Schafer, business man, philanthropist and founder of the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation. His life and commitment to Medora are displayed in museum exhibits that include the original Mr. Bubble Car, Harold's hand-carved medieval desk and his rare 1929 Roosevelt sedan. The museum celebrates the life of North Dakota's own, Harold Schafer! See how the aristocracy of the 1880s would've lived! There is also a gallery display of correspondence between the Ferris Family and Theodore Roosevelt himself! FREE! Stories of early Medora and recountings of some of the most colorful characters of the town's past mark this 50-minute tour.
