I DA U N I V E R S A L J u l y -Au g u s t 2 0 1 6 7 PRESIDENT'S POST Bob Creighton IDA President 2015-17 Hello IDA Members Y our elected board members held our spring meeting on April 25, 2016 in Dallas, Texas, in the board room of Memo Corporation. A very special thanks to your Secretary-Treasurer Amr Elborai for hosting this meeting and providing lunch for all who attended. Members present were, Bob Creighton, Paul Bonovich, Amr Elborai, Pete Smith, Peter Svendsgaard, Joe Cireillo, Alenjandro Paret, Todd Resser, and our legal council Bob McIntrye. is meeting was one of the longest I had ever participated in, and also one of the best. Our discussions centered around approving Minutes, our Financial Reports and Investment Manage- ment. However more importantly we spent a great deal of time discussing Membership and how we as an Association are going to improve our numbers. By the time you read this, you will have received your invoice for renewal of your membership. Along with that you will receive a fl yer on how to get free adver- tising. All you simply have to do is refer a potential new member to the association and once the new member signs up, your company will get the credits towards advertising in the IDA magazine e Universal. ere are diff erent levels of rewards and they all revolve around how many new members refer and how many sign up. e top reward comes to you if 4 or more new members sign up because of your referral. Your company will then receive a full page add in e Universal for a period of one year. is is a full page black and white add which you can up grade to color for a nominal fee. We all know that IDA exists to promote the indepen- dent dealer, manufacturer and distributor. Every one of us know a company or company's that are not part of the association but would benefi t from doing business with our members. At times some of us fear that if we bring someone into our organi- zation he will know everything I know and I will loose the perceived advantage that I have. Sometimes we forget that we can learn from these new members, even if we are selling in the same area's and sometimes even the same clients. ere will be some aspect of the new members business where he will be able to help you and not only you but your other member associates as well. Networking at our annual convention, meeting all the new members introducing them to people you work with creates an industry relationship and one that generally carries on for years. is is your association and it is up to all of us to help build our strong independent brand. I would like to remind all of you of the dates and location for the 2016 IDA Convention and Trade Show, and they are October 26 to October 28th , at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach, California. e fl oor space for the Trade show is now over 76% sold out so if you have not booked your space, now is the time to do so. I look forward to meeting all the new members, regular members and associate members who will be attending the IDA Convention and Trade Show. e Long Beach setting I believe will prove to be an exciting location on Queensway Bay. You will be able to take a picturesque walk through Shoreline Village at Rainbow Harbor where all you nautical wheelers will be able to catch a perfect view of the 1936 Queen Mary. I hope to see everyone in Long Beach. Best regards, Bob Creighton President
