2016 Groundwater Week Announces Keynote Session Presenter Peter G. McCornick, Ph.D., PE, D.WRE, an internationally known expert in water, food, and environmental research, was announced by NGWA and the Irrigation Association as the keynote presenter for their colocated shows—Groundwater Week and the Irrigation Show, December 6-8 in Las Vegas, Nevada. McCornick, who was recently named as the next executive director of the Water for Food Institute at the University of Nebraska, effective September 1, is currently serving as the deputy director general of research for the International Water Management Institute in Colombo, Sri Lanka, one of the world's foremost institutions dedicated to improving man- agement of water and land resources to ensure food security and reduce poverty. Dedicated to improving the understanding of sustainable water resources management, McCornick has led research and development programs on water, agriculture, and the environ- ment in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States. His interest areas include water and food security, the water/food/energy nexus, water reuse, irrigation management, and water and climate adaptation. He has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications, and regularly presents at major international events. McCornick will present his keynote session from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. on December 7. Promote 2016 Protect Your Ground- water Day with Tools from NGWA All water resource stakeholders and professionals are encouraged to mark the 2016 edition of Protect Your Ground- water Day (PYGWD), September 6, on your calendars so you can promote it to the public. You also can push these links out to the public on your Facebook page and on Twitter. Borrow any of the copy you want from the PYGWD webpage. Call your newspaper. Ask for a news radio interview.
