ROLLOUTS 10 AGGREGATES MANAGER / October 2016 System uses energy from conveyors to power electronics Martin Engineering introduces the Martin Roll-Gen System, technology that uses the kinetic energy from a moving conveyor belt to generate enough power to run a va- riety of electronic systems. The company says it creates a self-contained mini power station to run monitoring and safety systems. The Roll-Gen System can be retrofit- ted on existing idler support structures, so no special stock of conveyor rollers is required. Martin Engineering says that, as conveyors move into the next generation of "smart systems" that are predicted to be more sustainable and autonomous, this device is considered a first step toward eliminating power production obstacles. Martin Engineering | www.martin-eng.com High-capacity dry screen blends efficiency, small footprint McLanahan Corp. rolls out its McLanahan MD Vibratory Screen, a compact, high-ca- pacity drying screen unit suitable for applications such as dried sand, limestone, and gypsum. The manufacturer says the unit processes more tons per hour per square foot of screen surface area and handles larger capacities than conventional screens in the same, or smaller, footprint. The screens are available in widths ranging from 19 to 78 inches with one to five screen decks, depending on application. They can handle feed sizes of up to approximately 3 inches and make size separations down to about 60 mesh. The design concept is said to reduce the risk of pegging and blinding at high-capacity rates by making a separation at a given size using mesh aperture of greater size. McLanahan | www.mclanahan.com Semi-automatic excavator features 3D display Komatsu America Corp. debuts its PC360LCi-11, the first 3D semi-automatic excavator available in the 36-ton class. Intel- ligent Machine Control features a unique sensor package, in- cluding stroke-sensing hydraulic cylinders, an IMU sensor, and GNSS antennas. The machine uses 3D design data loaded into its monitor to accurately display machine position relative to tar- get grade. When the bucket reaches the target surface, automa- tion kicks in to limit over excavation. Other features include auto grade assist, auto stop control, minimum distance control, facing angle compass, 3D display, and a control box. The excavator is powered by a 257-horsepower, Tier 4 Final, SAA6D114E-6 en- gine and is said to offer up to a 13-percent increase in produc- tivity due to increased hydraulic flow in Power Mode.
