Cheers Congratulates Scholarship Winners Cheers and Johnson & Wales (J&W)University recently announced Director of Beverage Hard Rock Wesley Cort Director, Restaurant & Beverage Development and Operations Norwegian Cruise Line Peter Czizek VP Food & Beverage R&D Dave & Buster's, Inc. the winners of the annual scholarships sponsored by the Beverage Information Group, Cheers' parent company. Charlotte Berdensey, Samantha Adams and Saesamyebbeun (Yebbie) Kim were awarded the merit scholarships after being selected for their performance in the beverage concentration. Cheers has sponsored the award for the past six years, working with Ed Korry, CSS, SWE, the department chairman of the Center for Culinary Excellence in the College of Culinary Arts at J&W, to recognize three J&W students from the school's beverage concentration in the Culinary, Food Service Management and Restaurant Management fi elds. Th is year's winners were part of a team that recently made it to the fi nals of the U.S. Bartenders' Guild regional Iron Tenders competition (photographed at competition with Ed Korry). hands? Now they can fi nd out with a new app called the Germ Scanner. Th e app uses the iPhone's camera to show the potential germs that could be lingering on a user's hands. Th e app shows close-ups of the diff erent types of germs that cause common food borne illnesses and off ers facts and tips on hand-washing techniques and food borne illness prevention.
