A father's tribute
Nearly 2,000 metal puzzle pieces
adorn the inside and outside of
Michael Manuel's "One of Many,"
a 2015 Peterbilt 389 and Mac
curtainside. Manuel developed the
rig's autism-awareness theme for
his 23-year-old daughter, Kara,
who has autism. The puzzle pieces
and the blue, red, green and yellow
used by Manuel are symbols of
autism that dot the entire rig.
That includes floating pieces
inside the fuel tanks – available to
view through clear plastic – that
tumble around for motorists to see
when the truck's on the road. The
pieces were fabricated by Manuel
and the crew at 4 State Trucks in
Joplin, Mo. A local jeweler helped
in crafting other metal puzzle
ornamentation around the rig.
