AGGREGATES MANAGER / May 2017 9 Artic features all-new cab Caterpillar highlighted its 745 articulated truck, which offers a 45.2-ton rated payload capacity and a completely new cab that was re-engineered from the inside out to improve comfort and ease of operation. The external 'spinal' rollover protection sys- tem (ROPS) features bonded rear quarter glass that eliminates the structural pillar for a dramatic improvement in visibility. A new 'wake up' feature initiates machine displays as soon as the door is opened, while the improved door seals guard against dust and lower the sound levels inside the cab by 5 decibels. Infrared glass reduces solar heating, while left and right sliding windows increase ventilation and improve communication. A new combined transmission and hoist lever give operators sin- gle-lever control over truck speed and body hoisting functions to minimize operator effort and automate repetitive operations. Caterpillar | www.cat.com Trommel features quick set up McLanahan Corp. introduced the MMS Track Trommel, a mobile unit that can be containerized when nearly fully assembled. The manufac- turer says the trommel can be set up and running within 15 minutes. Capable of handling up to 165 tons per hour of material, it features a self-cleaning drum to minimize downtime. The drum — which measures 16 feet, 9 inches, by 4 feet, 7 inches — features four lifter bars and three wrap-around screen mesh sections. All mesh sections are bolted to the outside for quick media changeouts. The trommel has variable speed drives on all conveyors and can be hydraulically driven with forward and reverse capabilities. McLanahan | www.mclanahan.com Intuitive control system supports crusher operator Kleemann highlighted its new, intuitive crushing control system, Spective, at ConExpo-Con/Agg. From the beginning of operation, the operator is supported by a touch-panel screen, which pro- vides a step-by-step guide through the startup process. On the start screen, the operator sees a diagram of the entire plant with its adjustable functions. The operator selects a function and is guided through all necessary steps. If a fault occurs during ma- chine operation, a fault diagnosis is shown on the display, and downtimes may be reduced. Similar to a phone app, the system is designed to intuitively walk the operator through the control system for reduced errors and more efficient operations. Kleemann | www.wirtgen-group.com Modular wash plant built on a single chassis McCloskey Washing Systems introduced Sandstorm, a modular wash plant that includes feeding, screen- ing, and washing, along with stockpiling of products on a single compact chassis. The range, including the 516, 620, and 824, can process feeds up to 550 tons per hour, with up to four grades of aggregate and two grades of classified sand. Easy access around the plant allows for simple operation and safe maintenance. The S-Line range combines the modular plant with sand screws as another option for sand producers.
