ROLLOUTS 10 AGGREGATES MANAGER / May 2017 Aggregate handler loads in two passes John Deere added the 844K Series-III and 844K Series-III Aggregate Han- dler to its loader lineup. The new wheel loaders feature a 13.5-liter John Deere PowerTech Tier 4 Final diesel engine (380 horsepower for the stan- dard unit, 401 horsepower for the aggregate handler). They are equipped with standard five-speed transmission with torque-converter lockup in gears two through five. This feature increases acceleration, speeds, and cycles, and optimizes power and fuel efficiency during transport, roading, and ramp climbing, the manufacturer says. The Aggregate Handler is built for two-pass loading with increased power, large tilt cylinders, higher hydraulic pressure, and increased counterweighing to handle bigger ma- terial-handling buckets (9.3 cubic yards/9.8 cubic yards). It is said to cut loading time by 30 percent with reduced fuel consumption by eliminating the third pass. John Deere | www.johndeere.com Hybrid multi-frequency screen increases capacity Astec Mobile Screens introduced its latest patent-pending hybrid technology featured on its GT205 Mobile Multi- Frequency Screen at ConExpo-Con/Agg. The hybrid multi- frequency screen can run on either line power or diesel power. It features a 5-foot by 20-foot screen. With its multi- frequency technology, the manufacturer says operators can expect up to 50 percent higher screening capacity on the bottom deck. The unit offers on-site flexibility and simple controls. Astec Mobile Screens | www.kpijci.com Cone combines piston and rotating bowl methods Metso featured its MX crusher, which is based on patented multi-action crushing technology that combines the piston and rotating bowl in a single crusher. It is said to cut operational costs by 10 percent and enable 10 percent higher uptime than traditional cone crushers. Key benefits include an easy under-load setting adjustment and wear compensation without hav- ing to stop the crusher. The cavity design, stroke direction, and distributed crushing action enhance rock-on-rock crushing for extended maintenance intervals. The manufacturer says the crusher can use up to 70 percent of the mass of new wear parts. Metso | www.metso.com Rig drills precise holes Atlas Copco rolled out the PowerROCT45-12 LF drill rig. The unit, with telescoping boom, is said to drill precise holes ranging in diameter from 3 to 5 inches. A 20-foot lead rod plus a three-rod, carousel-style rod handling system gives the operator an on-board depth capability to 54 feet with single pass capability of 18 feet. The basic rig configuration comes equipped with RD 22S hydraulic rock drill and 370 cfm air compressor. A Power Eco feature saves on fuel consumption by allowing the opera- tor to select one of three engine speeds – 2,000 rpm, 2,100 rpm, or 2,200 rpm. Fuel economy varies by mineral type and deposit conditions, but in soft rock, 10 percent or greater reductions in fuel consumption have been typical, Atlas Copco says.
