x The New Amsterdam spirits portfolio has added two new vodka flavors: New Amsterdam Red Berry, featuring straw- berry and red raspberry aromas, and New Amsterdam Peach, highlighted by its sweet peach flavor. Both vodkas are distilled five times, and at 70 proof, the suggested retail price is $14.99 for a 750 ml bottle. x Cecchetti Wine Company has launched Exitus, a California red wine, which combines Central Coast Syrah (60%), Mendocino Coast Petite Sirah (30%) and Lake County Merlot (10%). The easy- drinking red blend features black currant and cherry flavors with a crisp and lively finish, the company says. The new wine is available nationally and retails for $25 per 750 ml bottle. x Beginning this month, Somersby Apple Cider, a leading global hard cider within the Carlsberg port- folio, is being imported into the U.S. via Crown Imports. The companies hope to capitalize on the continued growth with- in the global cider category, along with the measurable success of the Somersby brand in European and Nordic coun- tries. Since its introduction in 2008, Somersby has become the fastest-growing international cider brand and is currently available in 22 countries world- wide. Somersby Hard Apple Cider is gluten free and made from real apple juice and natural flavoring. x Sauza Tequila is debuting three new expres- sions: Tres Generaciones Plata Organic Tequila and Tres Generaciones Reposado Organic Tequila; and Casa Sauza XA, Edition Limitada. The two organic versions are now made organically from hand-picked blue agave plants. The company says that organics fermen- tation is slower, resulting in different flavor notes for the product. The Plata ($34.99 suggested retail) fea- tures a slightly herbal nose with citrus notes, sweet flavors of cooked agave and a slightly bit- ter and spicy finish. The Reposado ($37.99 suggested retail) shows agave notes of the nose, with hints of wood and spice, while featuring rich, well-bal- anced flavors of agave and figs. The Casa Sauza XA, Edition Limitada is the brand's first extra anejo expression, and is available only as a limited edition. The prod- uct rests in hand-selected, toasted, new and old, small American oak barrels for three years, resulting in a rich, smooth tequila with a long finish. XA's taste is highlighted by its fresh agave flavor and wood notes. Available in indi- vidually numbered bottles, XA's suggested retail price is $150 for a 750 ml bottle. x Newcastle Brown Ale announced the nationwide release of its limited edition beer, Newcastle Werewolf. Werewolf fea- tures sweet berry fruit in the front and a bite of bitterness at the finish, the company says. Brewed with rye malts, Werewolf is naturally blood- red in color. It is 4.5% abv and is available nationally through October in 6- and 12-packs. x Aveniu Brands has debuted Pomagria, the first pomegranate-flavored sangria in the U.S. Pomagria, with a suggested retail price of $11.99, is a ready-to-drink pomegranate sangria packaged in a clear bottle that displays its ruby- crimson color. Made with fresh pomegranate juice blended with a maceration of wine and oranges, Pomagria has a fruit-driven and slight- ly tart taste. Pomagria has an alcohol content of 13% and is best served chilled or over ice with a wedge of orange. Beverage Dynamics • www.beveragedynamics.com • September/October 2012 • 49
