Climb to the top of one of the basilica's towers for an even better view of the changing leaves. Near Hartford northwest of Milwaukee. Pike Lake A spring-fed kettle lake is a glacial formation that shines in fall. Follow the orange trail up Powder Hill 1,350 feet, to climb an observation tower for views of the surrounding forest and lake. W329-N846 3544 Kettle Moraine Rd., Hartford Oak Leaf Trail Start at the Milwaukee Art Museum pedaling north with a stop for a stein of beer at Hubbard Park Beer Garden, a great spot for seeing fall colors. Milwaukee Riverwalk Six blocks on both sides of the river from Highland Ave. to the Historic Third Ward. Schlitz Audubon Center The observation tower boasts views of Lake Michigan plus more than 185 acres of the surrounding forest and beyond. 1111 E. Brown Deer Rd. (414) 352-2880.
