Industry Focus VIPAR Heavy Duty launches new site VIPAR Heavy Duty has launched its new and improved website, www.vipar.com, with enhanced navigation functions and expanded contents to better serve its distributors, suppliers and end-users. Built on a robust technology platform, the site reinforces the VIPAR Heavy Duty brand and includes improvements to both the public and private sides of the site, the company says. ���The newly enhanced website reinforces our VIPAR Heavy Duty brand as well as provides increased exposure for both our stockholders and supplier partners,��� says Jeff Paul, director of marketing. ���Additionally, we have made major technical improvements to the website that offer optimal functionality and a userfriendly atmosphere for all of our constituent groups both internally and externally.��� MAHLE acquires RTI Technologies MAHLE Clevite has completed its acquisition of RTI Technologies, renaming the company MAHLE Clevite Inc., RTI Division. The company will continue to develop and distribute automotive maintenance equipment including air conditioning service, ���uid exchange and nitrogen tire in���ation systems, the company says. ���Given the long-term approach to the automotive aftermarket as an important sales channel for MAHLE on a global scale, this acquisition will Daimler may cut up to 2,100 jobs Daimler Trucks North America has announced sweeping job cuts as the company seeks to boost pro���tability. Up to 2,100 jobs globally are expected to be eliminated, with as many as 1,300 production jobs in North America are targeted in the cut back, Bloomberg News reported. According to Bloomberg, DTNA has already begun negotiations with the United Auto Workers union on pending North American job cuts. Inland Truck Parts combining Wichita locations Inland Truck Parts has consolidated its parts and service locations in Wichita, Kan. into a custom built location. ���With this move, it���s easier than ever for our Wichita customers to get everything they need with a single stop, and get back to their jobs as soon as possible,��� says Dennis Bowers, Inland���s general manager. The new facility is located at 3610 S. Norman Street and its hours are 7:30 a.m. ��� 11 p.m. on weekdays and 7:30 a.m. ��� 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Wichita Inland site draws from a vast parts inventory covering light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, and onthe-truck service ranges from diagnostics to repairs. The site also has an in-house gear shop and on-site remanufacturing facility. The public side of the website is designed to serve the industry as a whole. Among the changes is a greatly improved ���Find-A-Distributor��� function, which VIPAR says makes it easier for ���eet managers and owner operators to ���nd the nearest VIPAR Heavy Duty distributor. Meritor launches new parts website Meritor has unveiled its new online parts ordering system, MeritorpartsOnline.com. The new system is currently online in the U.S., Canada and South America, with plans to add other regions in the coming months, the company says. ���We���ve tried to make it easier to take our products to our customer,��� says Martin Hetherington, Meritor���s manager of marketing and brand, aftermarket. ���What better way to do that than be able to order them online?��� MeritorpartsOnline.com replaces the company���s previous e-commerce system, XpresswayPlus.com, which was introduced in 1998. XpresswayPlus users can continue using existing log-in credentials. Hetherington says the company���s new web-ordering entry offers better intuitive navigation, new product information, improved parts comparisons, batch cross-reference upload and the ability to look at parts in a 3D 360-degree rotation. Large orders of up to 200 parts may be updated via Excel template. ���With the reorder purchase option, you can pull your last parts order, adjust the quantity and drag into the shopping cart versus generating a new order every time,��� Hetherington adds.
