CUSTOM RIGS READER RIGS A load of classic Dana Thomason of Dickens, Iowa, hauls antique cars with his 2007 Kenworth T600 powered by a 500-hp Cummins ISX and 13-speed transmission. Thomason drives under his own authority for Three Sons Trucking and hauls almost exclusively for dealers selling classic cars. The interior of the 86-inch sleeper has been customized to fit custom-made cabinets and a full-size fridge. Pictured in the photo are a 1950 Ford F4, a 1937 Chevy half-ton pickup and a 1931 Ford Model A, among others. Red-light entertainment Owner-operator J.R. King of Houston drives this 2013 Peterbilt 389 for his King's Construction and Trucking business. The Pete's equipped with a 600-hp Cummins and 18-speed transmission. King's added aftermarket fenders, a visor and a deck plate, along with a few lights. He named the rig "Stop Staring" after he noticed passers-by doing just that – it doesn't help that he hauls oversize loads, including parts for oil rigs. Deere people Vance Auman, a native of Seagrove, N.C., hauls wood, sawdust and lumber with this 1971 Kenworth 924. The rig, which has a 350-hp Cummins and 13-speed transmission, also is used to haul six John Deere tractors to local parades. Auman's added a 1999 Ford Ranger bench seat to accommodate three people in the cab, as well as chrome, a dropdown visor, LED lights and a custom bumper. You can see the rig in person, he says, at the American Truck Historical Society show this summer in Yakima, Wash. WANT TO SEE YOUR TRUCK HERE?
