EQUIPMENT FOCUS Chippers Bandit Industries Model 1390XP drum-style chipper Bandit's Model 1390XP, with a 13- or 15-inch capacity, uses an aggressive feed system and a 37-inch-diameter drum. The large drum allows the 1390XP to run slower with less machine vibration, while creating more torque and chipping power. Outfitted with a high-torque 97-horsepower diesel engine, this chipper can easily outperform more powerful machines, all while delivering greater fuel efficiency and excellent chip quality. Echo Bear Cat CH922DH chipper The Echo Bear Cat CH922DH is a must have for tree service and clearing companies. The CH922DH effortlessly handles branches/logs up to 9 inches in diameter, and is the perfect partner for jobsite cleanup, power line maintenance, lot clearing and property tree maintenance. This model is equipped with hydraulic feed and features Echo Bear Cat's Smart Feed System, which speeds up the job by automatically feeding and adjusting the feed rate without operator intervention. Another great feature of this model is the 360-degree rotating discharge chute, which allows the operator to choose the direction of the discharge material. MacKissic SC262-18VEMC Chip-N-Shred The SC262-18VEMC Chip-N-Shred features a 4-inch chipping system coupled with 48 free-swinging reversible hammers. Powered by an 18-hp. Vanguard engine with electric start, the SC262 features a rotor engagement system with loadfree starting and overload protection; plus independent, Flexride suspension for smoother highway towability. Additional non-highway and tractor-powered shredder-chippers are also available. MacKissic offers a complete line of products including shredder-chippers, sprayers, blowers, vacuums, tillers, stump cutters, and hydraulic earth drills. Morbark Beever M15R The Morbark Beever M15R features the powerful TorqMax dual feed wheel compression system, which generates more than 6,600 lb/ft of material pulling force. The unit is pre-plumbed and outfitted for the easy installation of most aftermarket components. The M15R's 30-inch-diameter 4-knife cutting system with replaceable knife holders makes 2 full cuts per revolution. The 30-inch-diameter chambered air impeller system increases chip throwing velocity and aids in discharging light, leafy material. The M15R's bearing-style pivot assembly contours the radius of the drum, increasing down pressure efficiency and reducing feed wheel dead space. Rayco RC12 gas-powered chipper Rayco's newly designed 12-inch-capacity chipper offers an economical solution to rising price of diesel fuel and the hassle of dealing with diesel emission regulations. This gas-powered 12-inch chipper is compact and lightweight, tipping the scales at just under 4,700 pounds. It is powered by an 85-hp. GM gasoline engine. Rayco's exclusive X-Charge discharge fan maximizes discharge velocity to prevent plugging. The 20-inch-diameter feed wheel is driven by a planetary hydraulic drive motor with torque to climb over logs and pull in brush. Vermeer BC900XL brush chipper The Vermeer BC900XL offers the ability to chip heavily branched material up to 9 inches in diameter, and is ideal for line clearing and general cleanup needs. The BC900XL features a 9-inch x 14-inch feed opening to help boost productivity by reducing the need to trim heavily branched material before feeding it into the chipper. A 33-inch-diameter disc rotates at 1,400 rpm and features 2 steel chipper knives with 2 usable cutting edges each. Two shear bars also have 2 usable edges to help extend wear life. The patented SmartFeed system monitors engine rpm and automatically stops and reverses the single horizontal feed roller when feeding larger, hardwood material — helping to enhance chipping productivity. A 40-hp. Kohler Command CH1000 gas engine provides the power to pull and process difficult branch material. www.arborage.com Arbor Age / April 2013 3
