24 IN ITS NEAR 80-YEAR HISTORY, COURTESY OF BOFFI (K2) Italian firm Boffi has deftly fused innovation with artisan praxis, most notably with its kitchen designs. The company has also steadily partnered with a coterie of talented designers, which has boosted its output with a constant diversity of ideas. Think of Gian Casé and Pier Ugo Boffi's T12 from 1960, which introduced cabinets made of both wood and laminate; or Joe Colombo's Minikitchen from 1963, an ingenious creation that incorporated a chopping board, mini-fridge, cutlery drawers, storage compartments and even electrical sockets, all within a tight, trolley-like structure (it showed at MoMA in New York); or Antonio Citterio's Gourmet, which included professional appliances to emulate the cooking atmosphere of a restaurant kitchen. Today, Boffi continues this spirit of collaboration, now integrating international designers, such as German-born Norbert Wangen, who recently contributed the K2, a sleekly stylish mono-block that contains everything you need for both cooking and entertaining, from a sliding stainless steel top (that can be either a bar, serving area or dining table) to an oven, fridge, dishwasher and cupboard/drawer spaces. boffi.com The K2 mono-block designed by Norbert Wangen 25 Jeff Koons' Pluto and Proserpina (work in progress), 2010- BREEZY WHIMSY Oceana Bal Harbour Pluto and Proserpina and Ballerina are coming home to developer Eduardo Costantini's forthcoming Oceana Bal Harbour. To be collectively owned by the condo buyers, the Jeff Koons sculptures could be considered a gift with purchase. But, as they're located in the Arquitectonica-designed tower's breezeway, they also represent a major contribution to public art. oceanabalharbourcondos.com CULTURED 43
