Fleet News By Tara Bullock CRST invests in pay increases, training facilities driver training and truck repair facility in Riverside, Calif.; $1.6 million to expand its driver training facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and $10 million in its new North American Driver Training Academy in Cedar Rapids. CRST Expedited announced a $10 million investment in a driver pay increase for new and existing drivers based on tenure, experience and performance. The company also recently has invested $13 million in a new Hornady Transportation is offering a new $1,000 sign-on bonus to qualified flatbed drivers. The Monroeville, Ala.-based company also has implemented other pay packages and additional incentives. Old Dominion Freight Line relocated its Wytheville Service Center in Virginia to a larger 14-door facility located at the junction of Interstates 81 and 77 in Southwest Virginia. The service center employs 12 and transports a variety of freight for the region's manufacturing and mining industries. Dayton Freight opened its 45th service center – a 12-door facility in Burlington, Iowa – allowing the less-than-truckload company to serve more Iowa points directly and faster. Equipment Fleetmaster Express is adding 40 new 2014 Freightliner Cascadia trucks to its fleet, a 10 percent increase that the Roanoke, Va.-based company says will allow it to hire more drivers and haul more weight up to 50,000 pounds.
