COMMENTS Driving Change W Darrin Siver General Manager e know for certain that change is certain. We also know that driving change in an organization usually requires a culture that recognizes the need for change and is willing to embrace solutions-oriented change. Often, the catalyst for introducing a new and better way is an individual, or team that are champions of the cause. This issue of First Class magazine is loaded with champions – those who challenge the status quo, and made bold, decisive decisions about the trucks that would populate their fleet. For example, Brent Redmond of Redmond Transportation (page 8), had just come through a particularly difficult period in his company's history, made more difficult by the maintenance issues he was having with his trucks. The market, he says, had changed, and in order for his company to survive — and profit — he knew he had to change with it. That change included a switch to Peterbilt equipment. And today, with a fleet led by Peterbilt's new Model 579, Redmond is well-positioned for the future — whatever it may hold. "There's a perfect storm coming," he says. "When it all shakes out, I think we're going to be pretty popular, both with drivers and new prospects." Dave Lynn of PennLine (page 14) saw a need for change when his equipment began failing the challenges of his unique off-road application. After thorough comparison shopping, he turned to Peterbilt. "In fit and finish, in design, Peterbilt had the edge," he says. Whether you're driving change or simply adapting to it, let Peterbilt champion your cause with the equipment to drive your success in today's business environment — and tomorrow's. Driving change in an organization requires a culture that recognizes the need for change.
