Arrowwest has been a member of IDA since 1990 and has been in attendance almost every convention since then. e owner, Len Chalupa served on the IDA Board of Directors for several years. In October of 2013, during the IDA Convention and Trade Show in Canada, Len and Carol Chalupa hosted a reception for the IDA members at their Arrowwest facility in Edmonton. Carol passed away suddenly on December 31, 2013 at the age of 55 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Carol is survived by her husband Len, sons Morgan and Jack, and many friends. In lieu of fl oral tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 10985-124 St. Edm., T5M 0H9 or a charity of one's choice. How do you like the Universal cover? It was intriguing viewing the images and reading about the project. Big Bertha may not be without drawbacks, but wouldn't you give just about anything to see her in action. Talk about moving dirt. Several of the other articles chosen to report to you seem to all give their "best guess" that 2014 will begin a move in an upward direction. Let's hope they are right. Whether you are read- ing about the heavy equipment industry or the global economy; the story is similar; positive months ahead but slowly. Meantime, it has been said many, many times before. Spending time at a trade show like IDA's? that is where your business grows. And there is strength in num- bers, so for everyone's sake, invite others to attend. Chicago has broken all the previous records since IDA began in 1958. Over half the booths are reserved already and over $83,000 in sponsorship and exhibition fees has already been submitted.
