6 Oil Prophets It has been a long, cold, hard winter with unusual weather patterns. Snow and ice in south Alabama? Record lows statewide? It reminds me of our industry and the changes that occur almost like the weather. It seems no one really can forecast or predict the future. Just as supply availability and terminal issues were seemingly leveling and becoming more stable, its time again for the winter blends to be phased out and terminal space to be used up. This predictable and known reality wreaks havoc in our marketplace. Being the eternal optimist that I am, I take solace knowing this means spring is just around the corner and the summer driving season is about to begin. Spring gives us the chance to thaw out after the harsh winter months. I enjoy the longer daylight hours by doing a little spring cleaning and some yard work. Turkey season is nearing, and I'm looking forward to some early morning hours in the woods. We all have things to look forward to and anticipate those pleasures that help us cope with out everyday tasks and responsibilities. Our Association has once again had a successful Food & Fuel Expo with informative seminars and enjoyable entertainment. The event was very well attended and plans are already underway for an expanded show next year. In addition to all the committee meetings and the legislative efforts, our summer convention is taking shape, and I encourage each and every member to watch for announcements and news about our summer convention coming soon. Your Board of Directors and the P&CMA staff have been active and diligently working to improve our organization with new programs and reaching out to the membership for ideas, suggestions and input. A lot of time and effort has been spent doing those things that position our Association to grow and remain viable for the long haul. Please, and I do mean please, share any ideas that you think might be beneficial to our membership with your board members & our staff. Members recruiting members is the best tool we have, so always ask your customers, suppliers and contractors to belong to our Association. Thank you for reading and stay tuned! The best is yet to be!
