GM/Head Golf Professional Brad Vinnick is very excited about this new direction, "We've redesigned our course so that you can golf in more manageable blocks of time. When you only have a couple of hours to spare, you can grab a quick round on the North or South Six, or play them both for a well-balanced, more leisurely round. Traditionalists need not fear: they can still play a full 18 holes. Actually, they were not the first to think of this. None other than Jack Nicklaus said during at interview with Golf Digest back in 2007, "We should consider the possibility of making 12 holes the standard round... Eventually it would be accepted because it makes sense in people's lives." Vinnick, who recently signed a new contract extension to remain part of the Greenbryre Team through to the fall of 2016, goes on to say, "There are a number of golf courses that do have a premium rate of 18 holes on weekends and on Fridays which will not allow 9-hole play until after 2pm. This new development will cater to those golfers who want to play 6 holes or 12 holes during this time period." The new layout features 5 par 3's, 6 par 4's and one par 5 hole over 520 yards in length. Ponds and water basins will come into play on 8 of the 12 holes. One of those ponds will provide an aquatic practice facility for the patrons for hitting range balls. As well, more than 120 trees have been moved and replanted from the old layout to provide shelter and maturity for the new 12 holes. The architect responsible for all this is Garth Keayes from Golf Shape, a Saskatchewan Golf Course Designer who also completed the very well regarded Legends Golf Course in Warman, SK. The extra land has now become a high-end real estate development, appropriately named 'Greenbryre Estates.' Private power carts for the home owners will be allowed to access Greenbryre G&CC. This is clearly a top-tier, cutting edge real estate development. Lots go from $250,000 to $330,000 and one home backing onto the golf course is currently listed for $1.7M. Of course, it has all the add-ons... 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, an exercise room, den, 2 family rooms, beautiful kitchen plus a large bar with a walk-in wine cellar. For additional information on the purchasing of lots, contact Duane Slater at 306-374-4774. Vinnick sums up where they see Greenbryre going fairly succinctly, "This development is one of a kind in Western Canada which includes housing in this development. It will definitely be a new concept which will be noticed throughout the golf community in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan. As for the larger scope, that will be up to the rest of Canada and Golf to decide."
