CULTURED 155 "My fascination with the work of this great artist began almost at the same time that I began collecting...This exhibition represents the first time that Cy Twombly's work is shown in Latin America, and is one of a handful of exhibitions that have presented—in an extensive way—examples of Abstract Expressionism in our country. It provides a great opportunity to experience the range of his oeuvre; his paintings, drawings and sculpture, ranging from some of his very early pieces from 1951 to the last paintings he ever made. As Arthur C. Danto stated in his introduction to 'Cy Twombly, Catalogue Raisonné of Sculpture,' 'Context gives the same component different and distinct identities, swan or serpent as the case may be.' And I am thrilled and anxious to see Twombly's work in a new context, in a new light—a Mexican light—and discover what transformations may arise." —Eugenio López Untitled, 2005, acrylic on paper, 57 x 39 cm © CY TWOMBLY FOUNDATION.
