MOWERS AND MORE | Zero-turn Mowers Ferris IS 2500Z lineup touts Yanmar diesel engines The Ferris IS 2500Z mid-mount zero-turn mower lineup for model year 2011 includes 3 units powered by Yanmar 3-cylinder, in- line diesel engines with cast-iron blocks — a 20-hp. model with a 52-inch iCD cutting system, a 24-hp. model with a 61-inch iCD cutting system, and a 24-hp. model with a 52-inch iCD cutting system. The patented 4-wheel IS independent suspension system dramatically increases operator comforts, mowing speed, quality of cut and productivity. With a 10-mph top speed, the IS 2500Z can mow up to 5 acres per hour (based on 80-percent efficiency). By absorbing bumps and vibration, the suspension system also helps extend mower life. Additionally, the mower deck features cast-iron greaseable spindles for longer life. Ferris, a Briggs & Stratton Products Group brand Grasshopper’s 226V MidMount Grasshopper’s new Model 226V MidMount mower offers commercial power, a quality cut, smooth handling and full-size features in an economical package. It mows up to 5 acres per hour with a 26-hp. Briggs & Stratton Professional Series V-Twin engine with an advanced debris management system, 52- or 61-inch cutting deck and 12-gallon fuel capacity. Model 226V also has a design-matched, commercial-grade Parker pump and wheel motor drive system to increase long-term value, and a 5-1/2-inch- deep cutting deck with optional mulching and vacuum collection. For operator comfort, it comes with a contoured cushioned seat with coil-spring suspension, foldable armrests, adjustable dual steering levers and shock-absorbing footrest. The Grasshopper Co. Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Series mowers The Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Series of commercial zero-turn mowers is now available with a 29-hp. Kohler. closed-loop Elec- tronic Fuel Injection (EFI) engine. The 200 Series mowers feature a simplified design that minimizes maintenance, downtime and input costs. When equipped with the Kohler closed-loop EFI, the Gravely Pro-Turn 252 and 260 mowers’ performance and efficiency are further enhanced. The Kohler engine improves fuel economy on the Pro-Turn 252 and 260 by as much as 20 per- cent, according to calculations by Gravely product engineers. Kohler calculates with gasoline at $3.70 a gallon, the closed-loop EFI will pay for itself in less than 400 hours. Gravely, an Ariens Co. Husqvarna P-ZT Series Designed to meet the exacting standards of professionals, the new Husqvarna P-ZT Series of zero-turn mowers presents an op- portunity to increase productivity without breaking the bank. The P-ZT Series has a rugged 2-inch by 3-inch tube-style frame and extreme-duty front-caster assemblies. The fabricated cutting deck is made from twin 11-gauge-steel sheet construction, which equates to a 1/4-inch-thick top deck area. These mowers utilize commercial-duty integrated ZT3400 transmissions with 12-cc pumps. This allows smooth operation, speeds up to 10 mph, and reduced potential for hose and fitting leaks. The integrated de- sign also improves serviceability. The new drive system carries a 2-year commercial warranty. Husqvarna Professional Products, Inc. Hustler Super Z The Hustler Super Z is built like a tank and rides like a thoroughbred — with a top speed of 15 mph. The new HyperDrive hy- draulic system is engineered to run at higher psi levels than any other mower on the market. Its VX4 deck technology — Veloc- ity, Volume, Vacuum and Versatility — delivers a clean cut and finish that complements its industrial muscle. It features Kawasaki engine options up to 37 hp.; a 60-, 66- or 72-inch side-discharge deck or 60- or 72-inch rear-discharge deck; and SmoothTrak Steering. The Super Z is backed by Hustler’s longer Industrial-Grade warranty, which is not found on any other zero-turn mower. Hustler Turf Equipment John Deere ZTrak PRO 900 Series The John Deere ZTrak PRO 900 Series mowers boast the durable 7-Iron Pro deck with stamped, 7-gauge steel, full-wrap rein- forcement and Mulch-on-Demand capabilities. With top mowing speeds of 10.5 or 12 mph, each of the 7 models has the power and performance operators demand to be productive on the jobsite. For durability and controllability, the Z900s include a ground-drive transmission, featuring a piston motor, internal wet disc brakes and a gear reduction final drive. And for effortless operation, the series offers ergonomic control levers, dial-in height-of-cut adjustment on the control panel, on-board self- diagnostics, run-flat tires and John Deere’s exclusive Brake & Go system. John Deere Kubota ZD323 Kubota’s ZD323 zero-turn mower features a 23-hp. diesel engine and a 60-inch deck with a 6.5-inch-deep design, allowing for efficient cutting in the heaviest of conditions. With close to 45 pounds per foot of torque, the high power-to-weight ratio translates into true savings. When compared to competitive gasoline machines, Kubota’s diesel goes beyond merely offsetting the price of diesel, but also can significantly reduce overall fuel operating costs. Operator comfort is ensured with a user-friendly instrument panel and deluxe suspension seat. An oscillating front axle further increases operator comfort, and an integral lift allows quick and simple maintenance of the deck without time-consuming removal.
