Anniversary Celebration Going on the Road Peterbilt Motors Company is bringing its 75th anniversary celebration to thousands of customers and enthusiasts throughout North America with a yearlong tour that brings a new Model 579 Anniversary Edition and an exhibition trailer to scores of dealerships and industry events. Now under way, Peterbilt's 75th Anniversary Tour provides ret- rospective, current appreciation and future hints of the industry's most iconic commercial vehicle brand. The centerpiece of the tour is a custom-built, double-expandable, 53-foot trailer that provides an immersive experience that is both educational and entertaining. The trailer will be pulled by the Model 579 Anniversary Edition. "This will be a hallmark moment for many – a chance to see one- of-a-kind Peterbilt memorabilia and learn about the company's histo- ry and its role in defining what trucking means and where it is going," says Robert Woodall, Peterbilt Director of Sales and Marketing. "The bond between Peterbilt, our dealers and our customers has always been the strongest in the industry – this year-long event will take those relationships to an even greater level." One of the highlights of the trailer is a History Wall that highlights sig- nificant accomplishments and products through the years, from the first truck manufactured in 1939 to the company's groundbreaking Models 579 and 567. Regarding the latter two vehicles, the trailer will include cab and sleeper cutaways of both trucks. There will also be displays of the PACCAR MX-13 Engine and Peterbilt's new Models 579 and 567 cab and sleeper products. Stockton Event Will Showcase Historic Peterbilts Peterbilt owners, enthusiasts and many retired employees from around the country will be gathering for a Peterbilt 75th Anniversary-themed truck show at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds in Stockton, Calif., on Oct. 25. Event organizer Rick McClerkin says he expects "hundreds" of Peterbilt restorations and show trucks to be on display at the one-time- only event, as well as many Fageol trucks. Fageol operated the factory purchased by Peterbilt founder Al Peterman in 1939. Several retired Peterbilt engineers from the company's plant in Newark, Calif., are expected to be there for a "meet-and-greet" session, according to McClerkin. Newark housed Peterbilt's primary production facility from 1960 until 1986, and served as Peterbilt engineering headquarters until 1993. For further information, contact McClerkin at (408) 268-3870, or email him at rmcclerkin@aol.com. Additional information can be found at 75thanniversary.org.
