FC Fuel-Economy Enhancers Lead Peterbilt Product Upgrades The new EPIQ package for the Peterbilt Model 579 provides an optimized com- bination of technologies and compo- nents that allows customers to easily order and operate the most fuel-efficient Model 579 available. "Through an extensive design and testing process, we were able to achieve new standards of Model 579 fuel effi- ciency, overall performance and a styl- ing and operating environment that drivers love," says Landon Sproull, Peterbilt Chief Engineer. "The new EPIQ package is the result of improved performance of key components and creating an optimized spec that utilizes the most fuel-efficient options avail- able for this vehicle. The EPIQ package, which can improve fuel efficiency of the Model 579 by up to 10 percent, utilizes Peterbilt's new combi- nation of the PACCAR MX-13 Engine and Fuller Advantage UltraShift transmission, all available aerodynamic options and optimized spec'ing. Called APEX, the new drivetrain pack- age features optimized shift calibration, weight savings and proprietary control logic between the two components. … Peterbilt's Driver Information Center now features a real-time visual messaging system that reinforces and coaches posi- tive driving habits. It is available for order on select Peterbilt models. "Optimizing fuel economy, safety and vehicle performance and longevity are goals of every fleet owner and man- ager," says Sproull. "Our newly enhanced Driver Information Center is a proven way to help all drivers – from the novice to the most seasoned – operate with greater efficiency." … Peterbilt now offers compressed nat- ural gas configurations for its two newest vehicles – the on-highway Model 579 and the vocational Model 567. Both vehicles are available with the Cummins-Westport ISX12 G.
