new Connecticut Diesel excise tax Rate
CEMA reminds those selling diesel in the state that
the new Connecticut diesel excise tax rate went into
effect on July 1. The rate changed to 54.5 cents per
gallon and is slated to remain in effect through June
30, 2015.
The Department of Revenue Services issued formal guidance
on the new Connecticut diesel excise tax rate.
This change applies to all taxable diesel and kerosene. It is a
slight decrease from the 54.9 cpg rate that was in effect from July
1, 2013, through June 30, 2014. The state diesel/kerosene tax is
adjusted every year on July 1 by state statute.
The federal diesel excise tax of 24.4 cents and the state excise tax
on gasoline of 25 cents remain unchanged.

neFi sulfur & Bioheat Requirements
for Heating oil in the northeast &
mid-atlantic states
As CEMA recently pointed out in a news-
letter item to its members, Vermont and
Connecticut are under new rules for
heating oil as of July 1. The new rules
limit sulfur to 500 parts per million,
down from 20,000 PPM in Vermont and
3,000 PPM in Connecticut. Both states
will further slash sulfur content to just 15
PPM in 2018.
The New England Fuel Institute has
developed this excellent listing of sulfur
and bioheat requirements throughout
New England and the Mid-Atlantic states.
NEFI has graciously agreed to let us pass
this along to our readers. DISCLAIMER:
