For some the cause is vascular disease, cancer or
diabetes; for others, a traumatic injury. There are
always adjustments, but losing a limb doesn't have
to mean losing momentum. With the right care and
support, you can keep moving into life.
That expertise is now available at the new CoxHealth
Center for Prosthetics and Orthotics, located at 2224
W. Sunset in Springfield. For patient convenience, the
center is adjacent to CoxHealth Outpatient Therapy
West and close to CoxHealth Home Support.
Chris Cobb, clinic manager, explains that prosthetics
are artificial devices used to replace a body part lost
through trauma or disease. Orthotics can include ankle
supports, spinal braces and wrist stabilizers that assist
or limit movement, depending on each patient's unique
circumstances.
Chris says custom prosthetics and orthotics will be
fabricated in an on-site lab at the new center. The
prosthetics and orthotics team will provide evaluations,
fittings and repairs for patients of all ages.
