Sprague, along with its customers, vendors and employees donated more than $126,000 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of New Hampshire. The donation, which was the largest in the history of the golf tournament, increased the total contribution by Sprague over the last 25 years to the MDA of New Hampshire to more than $1.3 million. "The Sprague MDA Golf Event is our largest charitable event," said David Glendon, president and CEO of Sprague. "We passed the $1 million mark in total donations two years ago, and after 25 years we are grateful that our employees, suppliers and business partners so generously contribute to this event year after year to support the fight against muscular dystrophy. The event included remarks from Joel Shortlidge, who expressed how thankful he and his wife Lisa are to Sprague for their continued support of the MDA. The Shortlidge family receives MDA benefits to assist with their son David, who is now six years old. "Our son David was able to go to camp for the first time this year," said Shortlidge. "The MDA camp is a special camp. David has many needs, as do many of the other kids at the camp." He went on to talk about new treatments being cur- rently tested that the MDA is helping to fund. "These could help save David's life," he said. For the 25th anniversary, Sprague hired a helicopter to fly onsite for the event and do a Golf Ball Drop to raise additional funds for the MDA. As part of the fun, the Shortlidge family, including Joel, was able to take a ride in the helicopter over the golf course and nearby harbor. Sprague is involved in a number of charitable and com- munity efforts each year, and the Sprague MDA Golf Event is the largest. gDF SUEZ TaPS INTO NEW NORTh aMERICaN NaTURaL gaS SUPPLy SOURCE FOR NEW ENgLaND GDF SUEZ Gas NA has announced it has entered into a purchase agreement with Gaz Metro LNG, L.P. of Montreal that will make available up to 1.0 billion cubic feet of addi- tional liquefied natural gas to meet the peak 2014-2015 winter demand in New England. "This second annual arrangement with Gaz Metro rep- resents an important step in the further diversification of our supply portfolio, as well as an opportunity for us to take advantage of gas purchases on this continent to increase our supply assets, and to continue to ensure reliability to New England when resources can be tight—the winter heating season," said Frank Katulak, president and CEO of GSGNA. "Additional and reliable supplies such as these will also allow us to cost effectively provide more services to the market- place by optimizing existing natural gas infrastructure in the region." Under the contract, GSGNA will commit to purchase 475,000 thousand cubic feet of natural gas over a five-month period beginning in July 2014, with the potential to purchase an additional 500,000 Mcf over the same period. The LNG will be transported by tanker truck to New England utilities to help meet gas inventory refill requirements. Gas utilities in the region purchase LNG during the summer and into fall to fill above-ground storage tanks. That LNG is then drawn down during cold winter days to meet peak demand needs. "We passed the $1 million mark in total donations two years ago, and after 25 years we are grateful that our employees, suppliers and business partners so generously contrib- ute to this event year after year to support the fight against muscular dystrophy." David Glendon
