API Welcomes lNG APProvAl, UrGes ActIoN oN BAckloG API welcomed the July 31 conditional approval by the Department of Energy of a facility to export liquefied natural gas from Warrenton, Ore., and urged the administration to accelerate the process for other projects. "Today's approval is a welcome signal that, despite ongoing delays, the adminis- tration continues to work through these important export approvals," said API Upstream Group Director Erik Milito. "This project could mean billions of dol- lars in construction and new jobs for the people of Oregon, as well as a major opportunity for exports to spur growth here in the United States. "As the world's largest producer of natural gas, we should act now to bolster our allies and send a signal to global mar- kets that America is ready to compete. Our growth as a major energy exporter will blunt the influence of foreign suppli- ers that dominate other markets and help to protect the stability and independence of our allies. We urge the administra- tion to work with leaders in Congress who have shown they are ready to act, and accelerate this process so that we can grow the economy and strengthen America's leverage overseas." sIGmA ANNoUNces DePArtUre of keNNeth A. Doyle The Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America announces that Executive Vice President Kenneth A. Doyle has decided to leave SIGMA to pursue other opportunities. Among other things, Doyle will focus on further developing his family business, Doyle Association Consultants. SIGMA has formed a Transition Committee that will be charged with identifying Doyle's successor and ensur- ing that SIGMA continues to serve all of the evolving needs of its members to the fullest. The committee will report to SIGMA President Thomas Schmidt, chairman of U.S. Venture, Inc. "This is a significant transition for SIGMA and we plan to use it as an opportunity to position SIGMA for the future," Schmidt said. "We are grateful to Ken for his many years of service and wish him well." "It is difficult to leave a membership and staff that I have enjoyed working with so much for the past thirty-four years," said Doyle. "I am very proud of SIGMA's accomplishments during my tenure at SIGMA. It is now time for someone new to take over." correctIoNs The listing for H& H Sales Company, Inc. in FON's July Propane Products and Services Directory had an incorrect email address.
