Through January 10, Cheim & Read
is hosting a comprehensive solo
show of the suspended works of
the late French-born sculptor Louise
Bourgeois. "Hanging and floating
are states of ambivalence,"
Bourgeois once said, who viewed
the sculptures' suspension as an
expression of the psyche. For a
more intimate view into the artist's
own psyche, Bourgeois' tiny
townhouse in Chelsea will reopen in
early 2015 with a gallery, a
backyard sculpture garden and
by-appointment-only studio tours.
