www.arborage.com ARBOR AGE n SPRING 2015 31 EQUIPMENT FOCUS OREGON CS300 Oregon is introducing the newest addition to its 40V MAX cordless tool system, the CS300 chain saw. Available in Spring 2015, the CS300 is designed with extended power and run time to help tree professionals, landscapers and arborists get the job done. Powered by Oregon's premium lithium ion battery technology, the CS300 was reengineered with a 16-inch bar and brushless motor for 40 percent more power and torque for an exceptional cutting experience. Oregon's exclusive PowerSharp chain sharpening system is built right into the saw and sharpens a dull chain in as little as three seconds. Free from the hassles associated with gas and cords, it runs cleaner and four times quieter than a gas saw. Weighing just 12 pounds with Oregon's highest-capacity battery pack, the CS300 offers portability and convenience to power through even the toughest jobs. REDMAX G5300 The RedMax G5300 is a professional, high-speed, limbing saw. The G5300 includes the MaxLogic ignition system, which provides quick and easy starts with lightning acceleration. It is powered by a 52.93-cc displacement/3.3-hp. engine. The G5300 is available with a 16-, 18- or 20-inch bar. STIHL MSE 250 C-Q Stihl expanded its extensive line of chain saws with the powerful-yet- lightweight MSE 250 C-Q. The convenience of plugging into a 20-amp outlet means users won't need to spend money on gasoline or worry about exhaust. It is lightweight (9.4 pounds), which reduces fatigue, and has 2.3 kW of power to handle even tough projects. The MSE 250 C-Q has several features that make it easier and more comfortable to use. The large trigger switch makes it easy to handle and operate while wearing protective gloves. Refilling the oil is simple thanks to the toolless oil tank cap. The soft grip handle makes it more comfortable during longer jobs. MSE 250 C-Q is also equipped with several safety features including the Stihl Quickstop Plus coast-down brake, an additional chain braking feature which stops the rotating chain when the trigger is released and is designed to reduce the risk of injury during certain kickback situations. If the bar gets jammed in a piece of wood, the overload protection system turns off the motor before it overheats. TANAKA TCS51EAP The Tanaka TCS51EAP is a 20-inch, rear-handle chain saw powered by a 50.1-cc commercial-grade PureFire engine. This saw was built for the commercial user who needs to be able to cut large trees quickly. The TCS51EAP features a compression release for easy starts, a sprocket nose bar, and a bucking spike to provide superior control and ease of cut. The TCS51EAP is also simple to operate with side-access chain tensioning and an adjustable oiler. Other features include a half throttle choke with trigger release for easy start and warm up, and tool-less access to the air filter. Depending upon user preference, optional 16- and 18-inch bars and chains are available. The TCS51EAP is backed by Tanaka's 7-year-consumer, 2-year-commercial and 1-year-rental warranty. W.E. CHAINSAW CHAPPS W.E. Chainsaw Chapps offer chain saw users complete leg protection from side to side. They are available in 36- and 45-inch lengths with 28 and 45 inches of Kevlar protection, respectively. Both chaps have a patented height adjustment system that allows them to fit different leg lengths, providing landscapers with great savings because they don't have to buy a different chap for each member of their crews. Another advantage of the height adjustment system is that when the chap is too long, the extra length can be tucked under itself to get the correct leg length and double the Kevlar protection around the foot, ankle and lower leg. Nylon straps with plastic buckles or elastic leg straps with hook-and-loop fasteners secure the chap to each leg.
