17 22 DON'T MISS AUDI'S INSTALLATION AT DESIGN MIAMI/, URBAN FUTURE. DEVELOPED BY COPENHAGEN-BASED DESIGN FIRM BIG, THE INTERACTIVE LED INSTALLATION WILL SHOWCASE A CONCEPT FOR INTERACTIVE STREET SURFACES IN THE CITY OF TOMORROW. "JEWELRY SEEMED LIKE THE PERFECT SMALL-SCALE KIND OF OBJECT TO ASK A DESIGNER TO EXPERIMENT ON WITH MATERI- ALS, TECHNIQUES AND FORMS," SAYS MONICA KHEMSUROV, CO- FOUNDER OF SIGHT UNSEEN AND ITS NEW ONLINE SHOP DE- VOTED TO JEWELRY. "THE BEST PART IS HOW YOU CAN SEE ECHOES OF EVERYONE'S OTHER WORK IN THE PIECES THEY'VE MADE FOR US." CulturedMagazine chats with Rosa de la Cruz—esteemed art collector, self-pro- claimed Design District "old timer" and newly minted Business Woman of the Year. You are being honored as the Business Woman of The Year. Can you please tell us what this award means to you? "It is indeed a great honor to receive this award. I am an "old timer" in the Design District— Craig and I founded the Moore Space in 2000, and in 2009 Carlos and I inaugurated our new space on 41st Street to showcase our collection." 18 Tell me about the exhibition you are planning for this year's Art Basel? "Some of the walls in the space will be installed reminiscent of salon style. At first glance the viewer will be overwhelmed by color and pattern, but on closer observa- tion, the pattern dissolves and the individual works reveal themselves and become more familiar." What are you looking most forward to at this year's fair? I love that for six days Miami becomes "the center of the world." 21 19 VISIT SIGHTUNSEEN.COM/SHOP Swarovski—a Design Miami/ sponsor—presents ERWIN REDL'S Crystal Matrix II, which, according to Nadja Swarovski, "reflects Swarovski Crystal Palace's mission to push the boundaries of design and innovation." This computer-controlled LED and sound installation will be unveiled at Design Miami/. 20 Architect Rene Gonzalez celebrates his eight-year collaboration with Bisazza with a new collection of tiles, including Deep Blue, the prototype of which is seen here. The tiles will also be a part of Hard Poems in Space group show curated by Nektar de Stagni and Gallery Diet's Nina Johnson at NDS in the Design District. In past years, Paris' GALERIE EMMANUEL PERROTIN was known for its epic shows at its Wynwood gallery space, but last year, the gallery sold its half of the building to owner Cathy Vedovi and is scaling back. This year, Vedovi is adding several galleries—Kurimanzutto of Mexico City, Gavlak of Palm Beach, Los Angeles' Regen Projects, et. al—into the mix. Also this year, the French interior designer Chahan Minassian is doing an installation—pieces by Paul Evans, Ed Wormley, Vladimir Kagan and the like—and presenting work by the artists he represents, from Peter Lane to Antoinette Faragallah.
