VENICE PROJECTS Design-wise, Patricia Urquiola has seemingly done it all. The prolific Milan- based Spanish designer is best known for furniture and products that consis- tently meld experimental form making with practicality and commercial ap- peal. Yet Urquiola hadn't worked with glass until just this year, when the mas- ter–medium matchmaker Venice Proj- ects tapped her to participate in its show Glasstress during the Venice Bi- ennale. The results are another synthe- sis of themes—in this case of Oiva Toikka and Venini—rendered as birds, plants both underwater and terrestrial, and organic shapes. In Miami, three all- new works will be presented alongside this glass Garden of Eden. A vessel from Patricia Urquiola's All Ambiq glass collection. Patricia Urquiola's All Ambiq glass collection.
