ʻTundra Challengeʼ Jan. 14 at Olympia in Oconomowoc THE FIRST in a series of "extreme athletic chal- lenges" designed for "thrill seekers" and "fitness fanatics" is scheduled for Jan. 14 on the grounds of the Olympia ski resort in Oconomowoc, about 20 mileswest ofMilwaukee. Called the 2012 Tundra Challenge by the Chicago promoters and designed to attract participants fromChicago andMilwaukee, the Oconomowoc event is the first of six scheduled events. Others are planned for the Detroit, Philadelphia, Denver,New York City andMinneapolismetropolitan areas. In the first event at Olympia, participantswill beginwith a 205-foot climb and a 50-foot slide on the ski hill. The remainder of the 3.5-mile course will involve a variety of obstacles designed bymili- tary experts. Competition (participantsmust be 18 or older)will begin at 9 a.m.with flights of 200 every 30minutes until 3 p.m. Awardswill be presented for the best costume and the fastestmile per hour slide in each age group -men,women and veteran (over 45). Those who finish in the top 10% of participants will be granted free entry into the 2012-'13 Nation's Top Challenger, a similar national event planned at a site to be determined. There is no admission charge for spectators, who can also the after party with participants. College basketball BOTHMARQUETTE UNIVERSITY and the University ofWisconsin-Milwaukee have nationally recognized men's and women's basketball teams.Marquette plays in the Big East Conference. UWMis in the Horizon League. Marquette's Golden Eagles men play home games at the Bradley Center, 1001 N. Fourth St., while the women's squad plays at the AlMcGuire Center on the downtown campus. The UWMmen's team plays home games in the US Cellular Arena, 400W. Kilbourn Ave., while the women play at the Klotsche Center on the campus.
