Product Round-up | Turf Renovation Equipment Billy Goat self-propelled overseeder Billy Goat's new self-propelled overseeder reduces fatigue associated with pushing, and features intuitive for- ward and reverse operator controls. The unit is 22 inches wide with an exclusive 11-blade slicing reel that floats along the contours of yards, increasing seed-to-soil contact and improving germination rates. The unit comes standard with a 30-pound seed box that is generously elevated above the turf to eliminate any clogging that may occur from moisture. Billy Goat's exclusive Auto Drop system automatically starts and stops seed drop with reel engagement and disengagement, conserving seed and preventing "end of run" seed piling. Infinite depth adjust- ment of the slicer blades promotes longer blade life. Classen turf seeders Seeding is the process of embedding seed into the soil at an appropriate depth. Although this can be done manu- ally by "turning the lawn" and dropping in seed, the results are often bares spots or weak grass that grows sparsely due to inconsistent depth and often a higher level of weeds due to the inconsistent lay of the seed. For more successful growth with balanced thickness, a professional seeder provides a quick and easy method to achieving a healthy, thick lawn. For bare or thinning turf, overseeding is the best way to thicken and build thick- ness in these areas. Classen turf seeders are multi-purpose units that ease seeding and overseeding jobs with de- thatching and vertical cutting capabilities to boot. Classen turf seeders can easily be converted to a powered rake (dethatcher) or vertical cutter in minutes with easy-to-change blade reels. All Classen turf seeders offer a folding handle and quick-remove hopper; 26 heat-treated multipurpose blades; 5-position, single-action height adjust- ment; and a covered dent- and rust-resistant 60-pound-capacity seed box mounted high to eliminate clogging. Gravely Thatch-O-Matic power rakes with tine reels Gravely now offers durable Thatch-O-Matic power rakes with tine reels to remove lightly compacted grass and leaf debris. With a 19-inch sweeping width and a 6-hp. 169cc Subaru engine, the power rake can be used for de- thatching and to prepare for re-seeding. Housed in heavy-duty, fully-welded 12-gauge steel, the Thatch-O-Matic is ideal for commercial and rental applications. An 11-position height of cut moves in 0.25-inch increments from 1- to 4-inches with a locking collar. For operator safety, the power rake has a manually operated clutch lever. Ad- ditional features include a handle with a vibration-absorbing comfort grip. Accessories include a knife reel as- sembly, flail reel assembly and a debris catcher. All Thatch-O-Matic power rakes have a 1-year parts and labor warranty. Husqvarna AR25 aerator Husqvarna's handy and efficient hollow-tine AR25 aerator is a self-propelled and free-wheeling outer tine aerator designed for better maneuverability around corners and tight areas with less turf damage. Additional side weights allow for improved soil penetration, and are removable for reduced effort when lifting or for altering weight balance on slopes and inclines. Lift handles and semi-pneumatic front tire allow for easy transport and steering. With a Honda engine and a welded-steel frame, the AR25 can withstand the toughest aerating tasks. John Deere Aercore 2000 With an 80-inch coring swath, the John Deere Aercore 2000 delivers high productivity without sacrificing hole quality, durability or ease of service. This aerator, designed to produce quality coring holes up to 4 inches deep, can cover 100,066 square feet per hour. Its heavy-duty frame, tine rams and adjustable hole spacing, make this aerator durable and versatile. Operators have a choice of 2 coring patterns — a 2.4-inch pattern or a 3.2-inch pattern — depending on the speed of movement. The John Deere Aercore 2000 features a 77.5-inch coring swath, flexi-link supporting arm that keeps tines perpendicular to the ground longer for high-quality holes, fiber- glass-reinforced belts for quiet operation, and 6 tine options from which to choose. JRCO heavy-duty attachments JRCO Inc. manufactures a line of heavy-duty attachments for commercial mowers. All 7 front-mount products at- tach with clevis pins to the JRCO universal mount bar. JRCO's tine rake dethatcher will provide a quick spring green-up by removing embedded thatch, leaves and "combing-up" matted turfgrass while mowing. Flexible tines allow zero-turning while raking. It is available in 36, 46 and 60 inch widths. 22 Landscape and Irrigation January 2012 www.landscapeirrigation.com
