CUSTOM RIGS READER RIGS 58 | Overdrive | December 2015 Heavy-duty hauling Les Hackens of Hanska, Minn., runs nation- wide in this 2007 Peterbilt 379 hauling military and oversize equipment and steel. The truck is powered by a C15 Caterpillar engine and an 18-speed transmission. Hackens plans to add some graphics and lengthen the frame to push the truck to a 300-inch wheelbase. Supplying I-15 Frank Burgwin of Mesa, Ariz., uses his 2015 Peterbilt 389 to haul frozen and perishable foods for Tremonton, Utah-based King Farms along the I-15 corridor, with occasional runs to the East Coast, Texas and Florida. The truck has some added stainless steel and is powered by a 500-horsepower Cummins engine and an 18-speed Eaton Fuller transmission. Alfalfa, in style Travis Heikes hauls alfalfa hay for Todd Corzine Farms from La Jara, Colo., to Texas with this 2007 Peterbilt 379, which is powered by a C15 Caterpillar with a PDI program and an 18-speed transmission. The all-custom truck has polished front fenders, 8-inch stacks with Pickett elbows, a drop visor and extra chrome and lights. Heikes does all of his own maintenance and repairs except for major engine work.
