Omaha-based Werner Enterprises (11th on Commercial Carrier Jour- nal's Top 250 ranking) announced in November annual pay for its 48-state solo van company drivers increases by an average of $5,000 starting Jan. 1. Some 1,400 drivers will benefi t from the raise. This was Werner's second an- nouncement of pay raises in Novem- ber 2015. Effective Nov. 3, Werner announced the largest owner/opera- tor per mile increase in company history. That raise equates to a total of an additional $10,000 in annual payments for all 48-state solo van owner/operators. Werner also earlier announced additional owner operator dedicated opportunities, increases for owner/ operator regional routes and special owner/operator interest rates for low mileage truck purchases. "We consistently review com- pensation packages to see where improvements can and should be made," said Derek Leathers, Wer- ner's president and COO. "Pay increases are one piece of our multi-faceted approach to attract and retain the best in the industry and make Werner the employer of choice." ◆ 6 www.studentdriversplacement.com January '16 Paths Werner announces pay raises for solo van company drivers
