8 www.studentdriverplacement.com January '16 F latbed load availability declined 24 percent in the last week of November on the spot market as DAT load board ac vity paused to a certain extent for Thanksgiving. The load-to-truck ra o rose 11 percent accordingly to 6.4 loads per truck, though that's down from 8.5 in the last update on the segment in October. Hot Markets for Thanksgiving week included Medford, Ore.; Rapid City, S.D.; Omaha, Neb.; Little Rock, Ark.; Shreveport, La.; and Montgom- ery, Ala. Columbus and Cleveland in Ohio also offered plenty of loads. A shortage of trucks led to high load-to-truck ratios that turned entire states dark green in Idaho, Mon- tana and Wyoming, but there were not enough loads in those areas to justify a trip. |Feature | These numbers show the Thanksgiving eff ect on the fl atbed spot market By Todd Dills Flatbed Hot States - Nov 22-28 The national average fl atbed rate was unchanged Thanksgiving week at $1.92 per mile, down 5 cents from the October average, or 8 cents below the average in Overdrive's last, early-November update.
