T he University of Arkansas is working with two technical ins - tu ons to off er a test prepara on program for those seeking a commer- cial driver's license. Courses began in January. The university's Global Campus in Rogers, Ark. created a new partner- ship with Northwest Technical Insti- tute in Springdale and Mid-America Truck Driving School Inc. of Spring- dale/Malvern to offer a commercial driver's license program. The course, which costs $3,700, prepares students to apply for a CDL. The five-week program includes 200 hours of combined classroom and behind-the-wheel training, including the course final exam. It also equips students to operate any classification of commercial vehicle, including tractor/trailers, dump trucks, log trucks, cement mixers, school buses and coach buses. Classes run from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cours- es begin at the start of each calendar month throughout the year. Evening classes are also available. The program is open to all ap- plicants who qualify to take the CDL exam, and a statement from the university said it is meant to expand commercial driver training and testing opportunities for women and veter- ans. ◆ Beat School New truck driver training program in Arkansas 18 www.studentdriversplacement.com February '16 Arkansas training program prepares students for CDL
