WINERIES UNLIMITED Scene at: 3 36 th year Virginia is for Wine Lovers! 2012 1 36 th year 4 Virginia is for Wine L 36 th year 16 he 36th annual Wineries Unlimited conference and trade show, produced by Vineyard & Winery Management, made its return to the Greater Rich- mond Convention Center in Rich- mond, Va., March 27-29, 2012. The largest wine industry trade show east of the Rockies, this year's event brought together more than 2,100 attendees and exhibitors. Wine- indust ry representa- tives from the East, Midwest and 86 VINEYARD & WINERY MANAGEMENT MAY - JUNE 2012 beyond attended three days of ses- sions on viticulture, enology, and sales and marketing, as well as a two-day trade show fielded by rep- resentatives from 260 exhibiting companies. In addition to a keynote address by Alyssa Rapp, founder and CEO of Bottlenotes, the Best of the East gala featured a live auction which, combined with a silent auction, raised nearly $13,000 for ASEV scholarships. This brings the 12 8 total raised since the first Winer- ies Unlimited auction in 2007 to $89,000. A selection of Eastern wines was poured at the Best of the East dinner, including the Wollersheim Winery Dry Riesling, from Wiscon- sin, winner of the Best of Show, Best White and Riesling Champion awards at the 2012 International Eastern Wine Competition.
