WORLD FENCE NEWS • JUNE 2012 • 55 Floyd Stadium fence project continued from page 1 wall pickets and the horizontal rail was revised to meet the .075 wall thickness for the top, as specified by the univer- sity." Holes for the line, corner, and gate posts had to be core drilled, and that was contracted to Mike Davis, owner of Core Drilling of Middle Tennessee, Inc. of Murfreesboro. His firm core drilled 5", 6", and 10" diameter holes around the interior and exterior of the existing fence. The existing fence was removed as the new aluminum fence was installed in order to maintain se- curity to the stadium. The new aluminum panels were measured, cut and notched to fit be- tween the column structure holding up the main stadium, providing a precise dimension between posts while main- taining a perfect grade. The fence and transoms were in- stalled one panel at a time using Quik- Rok chemically engineered hydraulic cement from Ameristar Fence Prod- ucts mixed with the regular cement. Elite Fence Products custom fab- ricated the gates to fit each opening precisely, due to the fact that the open- ings had to fall within existing en- trance handrails. The gates were installed on Elite-supplied hinges and hardware by D&D Technologies. The replacement left Floyd Sta- dium with a modern and attractive fence system that enhances the state- of-the-art facility and is durable enough to stand up to wear and tear from some of the largest crowds of football fans in the Ohio Valley Con- ference. Kalena said everyone's morale was boosted when they received the following e-mail from Terri Carl- ton, senior project manager, MTSU Construction/ Renovation: "U.S. Fence Extensive core driling was required for the line, corner, and gate posts. For security reasons, the old chain link was removed only as the new ornamental fence was installed. and Gate was a wonderful com- pany to work with. Your profes- sionalism and per- severance through the entire project was much appreci- ated. The final product exceeds expec- tations in appearance and functionality. I will not hesitate to rec- ommend U.S. Fence and Gate for fu- ture projects."
