The tan- dem lights are designed for easy installation on the sides of standard van and reefer 53-foot trailers. The backup lights mount on the back of the trailer, facing down, to provide additional lighting while the emergency flashers are on. Kiser Industries, kiser-ind.com Redesigned hub Webb redesigned its 25,000- pound axle-rated TN trailer hub to make it weigh 3½ pounds less and to help simplify brake drum installation. A scal- loped flange helps reduce over- all weight, and by incorporating 10 total drum pilots (five com- bination wheel/drum pilots, five individual drum pilots) that are aligned radially with the studs, the redesign helps reduce the probability of nonconcentric mounting by reducing the fric- tion between the hub and drum during assembly. The oil plug pad also has been relocated and angled, helping to increase accessibility of the plug after wheel installation. Webb Wheel Products, webbwheel.com Landing gear Holland's Atlas FastGear landing gear is engi- neered to provide a speed of 1.8 turns per inch of travel in high gear for faster cranks to the ground. Two models are offered: Atlas FastGear, weighing 156 pounds with a 140,000-pound load capac- ity and a 27,000-pound side-load capacity; and Atlas FastGear HD, weighing 182 pounds with a 170,000-pound load capacity and a 34,000-pound side-load capacity. The company's FloatingNut technology is designed to protect the elevating screw and threads from damage during excessive side loading, while its Twin-Bulkhead is placed above and below the FloatingNut to help increase structural resistance to side-load force. SAF-Holland, safholland.com Aero system SmartTruck's TopKit system consists of an Aero Rain Guard com- ponent that runs along the trailer's top-rear edge and features two side fairing components on the side-rear edges. The system is about 1 inch thick, weighs 72 pounds and is engineered to provide a SmartWay-verified 5.5 percent highway fuel sav- ings. The standalone system is designed for dry vans, refrigerated units and trailers equipped with either swing or rollup doors and does not require driver involvement or have moving parts.
