It's no secret that wineries nationwide are either taking it upon them- selves to start producing spirits, beer and/ or hard cider, have an interest in doing so, or just like the stuff themselves. And the beer, spirits and hard cider industries are gaining strength in both numbers and rev- enue at an astounding pace these days, all on their own. Full disclosure: I certainly consume my fair share on a regular basis. Hello, martinis and manhattans, I love you. Don't get jealous, wine; I'll always love you, too. Whoops, got distracted. We've also had a change in our adver- tising sales department. Please welcome our new sales director, Dana Johnson. Dana joins us having already worked for many years in advertising and marketing, including within the wine industry, and brings her experience and expertise to the magazine to assist our clients in get- ting the most value from their advertising investments. We're thrilled to have her as part of our team. That's enough change for one col- umn, right? Nope. There's more. We've also relocated our offices. Still based in downtown Santa Rosa, we moved this past August. The transition was quick and not without a few hiccups (namely our phones were down for a few weeks!), but we've since settled into our new digs nicely and everything's up and running once again. Phew! Let's raise a glass to change, shall we? Cheers! Welcome to the technology and finance issue of Vineyard & Winery Man- agement magazine. There are all sorts of subjects covered in these areas, with a focus on water-saving innovations as well as sustainable technology for both the winery and vineyard. It's exciting for me to discover all the amazing things people have come up with to help the wine indus- try move forward with confidence, and I hope you'll enjoy reading about them, too. Now for what the heck the title of this column means. Not that I had much doubt about this before, but damn I'm good at handling change. Like lots of change, all at once. And I'm not talking coins here, people (or basically anything to do with math — it's absolutely not one of my strengths, by any stretch of the imagination). Over the past few months, there have been all sorts of changes and new beginnings happen- ing here at Vineyard & Winery Manage- ment. Let's start with what I'm thinking (or at least hoping) you all care most about when the magazine hits your mailbox: what's inside. I'm so excited to announce our new- est column, Midwest Watch, penned by Doug Frost, one of only four people in the world who hold both Master Sommelier and Master of Wine titles. He'll be cov- ering what's happening in the Midwest (and sometimes beyond — this time he focuses on Colorado) with insight and humor each issue. We're so happy to have him on board. Another change you'll see is our Craft Beverages Report. This is a new sec- tion devoted to all things craft beverage (beyond wine), and will be appearing in
