16 Oil Prophets In 1981, State Senator Steve Livingston was looking for a way to move back to Alabama to be close to his parents. Through a family friend, he discovered Dicus Oil, a family-owned Chevron agent. He went on to purchase the business, and converted it to a jobbership. Today, Steve has been a business man in Jackson County for over 30 years. He owns and manages The Fuel Center Incorporated, also known as Dicus Oil Company, in Hollywood, Alabama. This organization primarily operates as a wholesaler and with retail stores. When Steve bought Dicus Oil, he had no petroleum experience, though he did have a background in sales. The Dicus family stayed with the company for 2 years to help with the transition. Steve has also been blessed to have a dedicated staff, whose help taking care of the business allows Steve to tend to his duties as District 8 State Senator. Community service is a way of life for Steve. "The way I was raised, you just give back," he says. The example was set for him by his father, a 90-year-old attorney who has always been civically involved. When Steve purchased Dicus Oil, he immediately became involved in the Scottsboro-Jackson Chamber of Commerce, where he formerly served as President. He has previously served on the Board of the United Way, and is also a member and Past President of the Scottsboro Rotary. Steve also serves on the Board of Directors of the FNB Bank of Scottsboro.
